Sankara Eye Hospital is Bringing Advanced Eye Care to Saharsa

Sri Kanchi Guruparampara Sankara Eye Hospital has opened on the campus of Shree Narayan Medical Institute & Hospital in Saharsa, marking an important addition to healthcare services in the region. The hospital was inaugurated on 30 April 2026 by Jagadguru Pujyashri Shankara Vijayendra Saraswathi Shankaracharya, with Union Minister Giriraj Singh among those present.

The new facility has been developed to bring specialised eye care closer to people across Saharsa, North-East Bihar and neighbouring regions. Shree Narayan Foundation and SNMIH provided the land and building for the hospital, while Sankara Eye Hospital brings its experience in ophthalmic care and community eye-health programmes to Saharsa.

The hospital has been planned as a 100-bed tertiary eye-care facility, with modern diagnostic and treatment facilities and three operation theatres. The project also received ₹11.55 crore in CSR support from REC Limited to strengthen its infrastructure and services.

A key focus of the hospital is making quality eye care available to people who may otherwise have limited access to specialist treatment. Along with regular consultations and treatment, the facility is expected to support affordable and community-focused eye-care services for patients from rural areas.

The opening of Sankara Eye Hospital adds a dedicated centre for advanced ophthalmic care to the wider healthcare environment at SNMIH and strengthens Saharsa's ability to serve patients from across the region.
