Know When to Act
Seek emergency help without delay
Call for emergency assistance or go to the nearest emergency department for serious or rapidly worsening symptoms. This list is not exhaustive.
Chest pain or pressure
Especially when it is severe, persistent or accompanied by breathing difficulty.
Severe breathing difficulty
Including choking, breathlessness or an inability to breathe normally.
Signs of stroke
Sudden facial weakness, difficulty speaking, loss of movement, confusion or changes in vision.
Loss of consciousness or seizure
Seek immediate help when someone becomes unresponsive, faints or experiences a seizure.
Heavy bleeding or major injury
Including serious accidents, deep wounds, head or spinal injuries and severe burns.
Poisoning or severe allergic reaction
Urgent symptoms may include facial or tongue swelling, breathing difficulty or sudden collapse.
